What Is A Stretching Ceiling?

Stretch ceilings have been a widely popular form of ceilings throughout Europe and now they are making an appearance in the UK. As a form of dropped ceilings, a stretched ceiling is the perfect solution for an easy and efficient way to hide imperfections or refresh your space. Stretch ceilings work by using a film which is stretched across the room and fitted to a track installed around the walls a few inches below the existing ceiling.

How Are Stretch Ceilings Made And Installed?room

Stretch ceilings may seem confusing and complicated but they can be broken down into two basic components. Firstly, there is a semi-concealed track around the edge of the room which holds together the second component, the lightweight membrane, which is then fixed to that frame.

Most stretch ceilings are currently made from a PVC-based material. Fixtures are welded onto the membrane during the manufacturing process and they then clip onto the frame to provide a tightly-stretched and secure covering.  During the installation process, the membrane is heated allowing it to stretch which then pulls the ceiling taut to give it a seamless finish.
